FAQ
-
What is the Clean Transportation Network (CTN)?
CTN is a national nonprofit founded by leaders of the Clean Cities & Communities (CC&C) coalitions. We strengthen the CC&C network through marketing, coordinated branding, and national education campaigns that amplify local coalition projects and boost public and private sector engagement
-
How is CTN different from my local Clean Cities coalition?
Your local coalition implements clean transportation programs on the ground—providing technical assistance, fleet outreach, public education, and infrastructure deployment. CTN supports them by coordinating across coalitions, supplying shared resources, delivering national-level awareness campaigns, and helping these groups scale their impact
-
Why give to CTN instead of (or in addition to) local membership?
CTN’s national campaign helps all coalitions by creating unified messaging, efficient resource sharing, and brand consistency. Supporting CTN ensures the network remains robust and resilient during federal funding gaps. Still, direct support to your local coalition is vital—they deliver immediate, local outcomes. We encourage donors to contribute to both for maximum impact.
-
What causes triggered this emergency fundraising campaign?
A shift in federal priorities and administrative delays have disrupted Department of Energy cooperative agreements—leading to staffing challenges, halted outreach, and slowed deployment of low-emission vehicle programs. CTN’s emergency fund aims to bridge these critical gaps.
-
How will emergency funds be used?
Funds will be directed to affected coalitions to sustain core operations—covering staff, outreach, project development, and stakeholder engagement. The aim is to preserve ongoing emissions reduction efforts and maintain local trust until federal contracts resume
-
Who can become a CTN Member?
CTN offers affiliate memberships for clean transportation stakeholders—including nonprofits, vehicle OEMs, suppliers, fleets, utilities, and service providers. Annual levels (Partner, Champion, Sustaining, Founders Club) offer benefits like campaign collaboration, branding exposure, and priority access to CTN resources
-
How does CTN stay impartial?
CTN is an independent, nonprofit organization that provides non-partisan support. We are governed by a board representing a diverse range of Clean Cities coalitions, and operate with no agenda beyond enabling cleaner transportation solutions
-
Who handles CTN finances?
While CTN works toward 501(c)(3) status, its operations are supported through a fiscal sponsorship with Louisiana Clean Fuels (LCF)—a fully recognized nonprofit. All donations are tax-deductible
-
What is the CTN doing to help secure the long-term future of Clean Cities and Communities?
The Clean Transportation Network (CTN) is actively working to diversify and stabilize funding for Clean Cities and Communities coalitions by seeking support from private foundations and mission-aligned partners. By reducing reliance on fluctuating federal priorities, CTN aims to ensure coalitions can maintain operations and momentum in advancing clean transportation solutions.
Coalitions that receive CTN support are expected to meet basic operational and reporting standards to ensure accountability and impact. In some cases, funding opportunities may be competitive or tied to specific projects that align with CTN’s national strategy and goals.
This approach is part of CTN’s broader effort to build long-term resilience across the Clean Cities and Communities network—so every coalition has the resources they need to serve their region and accelerate transportation decarbonization.
