Central Texas Clean Cities


Our Story

Central Texas Clean Cities is a standalone 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a cornerstone of clean transportation in the South Central region of the United States. With a 30-year track record of success, the coalition serves the 5-county Austin-Round Rock Metropolitan Area, bridging the gap between urban innovation hubs and rapidly growing rural communities. Under the leadership of Director Elizabeth Munger, the coalition provides a "steady course" for fleets, offering common-sense support and deep technical expertise that spans the entire spectrum of alternative fuels.

Like all Clean Transportation Network members, Central Texas Clean Cities offers a core set of capabilities to stakeholders.

  • High-level proficiency in conducting fleet data analysis (AFLEET) and creating long-term transition roadmaps.

  • Experts in organizing "Ride & Drives," webinars, and community listening sessions that demystify new technology for the public.

  • Experienced in serving as a Principal Investigator and subrecipient on federal and state grants.

  • Providing deep-dive support for charging/fueling infrastructure and first responder safety training.

Major Projects & Accomplishments

Massive EV Scaling

Over 968,000 GGE reduced through mixed EV and PHEV projects, reflecting the region's aggressive adoption of electric mobility.

Alternative Fuel Stability

Successfully managed projects displacing nearly 300,000 GGE through CNG and over 120,000 GGE through Biodiesel.

Infrastructure Growth

Facilitated the addition of new charging ports and maintained oversight of a diverse station network (2,300+ EV outlets, 28 Propane sites, and 11 E85 stations).

VMT & Idle Reduction

Achieved nearly 50,000 GGE in savings through innovative Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) reduction programs and school bus idle reduction policies.
