Treasure Valley Clean Cities (TVCC)


Our Story

The Treasure Valley Clean Cities Coalition is a dedicated U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities and Communities partner serving the Ada and Canyon counties and the City of Boise. Established in 2006, TVCC operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit hosted by the City of Boise. Led by Executive Director Randi Walkins, the coalition acts as a localized bridge between national energy priorities and Idaho’s unique regional transportation needs, focusing on community-driven choices that save energy and promote domestic fuels.

Core Capabilities

Like all Clean Transportation Network members, Treasure Valley Clean Cities offers a core set of capabilities to stakeholders.

  • High-level proficiency in conducting fleet data analysis (AFLEET) and creating long-term transition roadmaps.

  • Experts in organizing "Ride & Drives," webinars, and community listening sessions that demystify new technology for the public.

  • Experienced in serving as a Principal Investigator and subrecipient on federal and state grants.

  • Providing deep-dive support for charging/fueling infrastructure and first responder safety training.

Management and tracking of 285 electric charging outlets and 14 gaseous fuel stations (CNG and Propane) across the service area.

As a nonprofit hosted by a public institution (City of Boise), TVCC occupies a strategic nexus between municipal policy and community action.

Academic & Technical Synergy

The coalition maintains deep ties with Boise State University, leveraging academic expertise for fleet sustainability modeling and intern-led research.

Gaseous Fuel Adoption

TVCC has demonstrated significant success in heavy-duty natural gas adoption, particularly with partners like Republic Services, which utilizes CNG to significantly reduce waste management emissions in the valley.

Utility & Community Partnerships

With vice-presidency held by Idaho Power leadership, the coalition excels in utility coordination, particularly regarding transportation electrification and strategic infrastructure planning.
