Drive Clean Indiana
Our Story
Drive Clean Indiana (DCI) functions as a premier technical engine for sustainable transportation across the state. Designated by the U.S. Department of Energy in 1999, the coalition has evolved into a robust consulting and implementation powerhouse under the leadership of Executive Director Carl Lisek. DCI distinguishes itself through an exceptionally stable funding model that balances federal agreements with a successful fee-for-service consulting arm. This fiscal independence allows the coalition to act as a neutral, expert intermediary between industry demands and environmental imperatives. By managing a diverse fuel portfolio that spans from electric vehicle infrastructure to heavy-duty natural gas and biodiesel applications, DCI ensures that Indiana remains a leader in regional energy resilience.

Major Projects & Accomplishments
Service-Oriented Model
Our organizational structure transcends the typical grant-dependent nonprofit. By integrating a "fee-for-service" consulting logic, we provide high-level technical assistance that carries the rigor of a private firm while maintaining our public-interest mission. This stability allows us to mentor other coalitions and lead large-scale national projects with professional administrative precision.
Logistical Centrality and Corridor Management
Operating in the "Crossroads of America," DCI has mastered the complexity of multi-state corridor planning. We specialize in the logistical integration of alternative fuels—particularly CNG, Propane, and Biodiesel—into the heavy-duty freight and transit sectors that define the Midwest's economic landscape.
Comprehensive Fuel Agnosticism
We reject the simplicity of a single-technology solution. Our expertise is distributed across the entire spectrum of clean energy, including Hydrogen, RNG, and Ethanol. This diverse technical fluency ensures that we can provide empirical, unbiased guidance to fleets regardless of their specific duty cycles or geographic constraints.
Educational and STEM Integration
DCI maintains a sophisticated outreach apparatus that bridges the gap between technical implementation and community awareness. Through STEM programs and first-responder training, we ensure that the workforce of tomorrow is as prepared for the energy transition as the infrastructure we are building today.
