New Jersey Clean Cities Coalition (NJCCC)

Our Story

The New Jersey Clean Cities Coalition (NJCCC) is a standalone 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a designated powerhouse of clean transportation in the Mid-Atlantic region. Designated by the U.S. Department of Energy in 1997, the NJCCC has nearly 30 years of history serving the entire state of New Jersey. Under the leadership of Director Caroline McCallum, the coalition serves as a trusted convener and "information hub," bridging the gap between state-level policy and local implementation. With a specialized focus on strategic communications and technical outreach, NJCCC translates complex energy concepts into actionable results for fleets and communities alike.

Major Projects & Accomplishments

Multi-Channel Communicator

With a director-level background in energy engineering and marketing, the coalition excels at "amplifying" clean energy initiatives through its extensive distribution lists and social media channels, ensuring partner programs gain maximum visibility and participation.

University & Infrastructure Integration

The coalition maintains deep working relationships with New Jersey’s higher education institutions. These partnerships grant NJCCC access to unique physical assets—including vehicle garages, technical labs, and lift access—which are utilized for hands-on technician training, vehicle demonstrations, and pilot projects.

Law Enforcement & Specialty Fleet Expertise

Beyond standard municipal fleets, NJCCC has carved out a niche as a subject matter expert in Law Enforcement transitions. They provide specialized guidance for the unique duty cycles and technical requirements of police and first responder vehicles.

Strategic Statewide Convener

As a statewide entity, NJCCC serves as a critical link between New Jersey’s aggressive environmental goals and the private/public stakeholders tasked with meeting them. This includes strong, established partnerships with major regional utilities and state government agencies.
